Case Study
Allina's previous design was a list of links presented without a cohesive narrative. The page was cluttered, lacking visual focus, and users didn't have a clear or easy path to understand the necessary steps to move forward. Visually, the site had limited visual screen area which was divided by multiple in-page navigation blocks, small fonts (which were difficult to read), and was not responsive or mobile-friendly. Additionally, the website was in need of content strategy and information architecture.
User Experience
Taking initial direction from my lead, I worked closely with the team at GoKart to create thoughtful iterations of the entire End of Life Care user flow. I paid special consideration not only to the user process, but also crafted clear and empathetic UX Copy.
Additionally, I collaborated with the team to create modern and fresh design iterations of the user dashboard and emails to pitch to Allina as part of a brand refresh.
The Process
Formerly, the user had to experience a complex and confusing set of links and forms, often without explanation, to complete the Healthcare Directive forms. We wanted to be sensitive to the stresses users were experiencing, and through clear, friendly language and clean design provide support for users making tough end of life decisions.
By applying a number of methodologies in a closely collaborative and iterative environment, our team provided a thoughtful set of deliverables to re-think the Allina Health End of Life Healthcare Directive.

Results
Through applying design thinking and empathy to a sensitive and complex product, our team advocated for the users. Allina Health was able to apply our work towards a compassionate user tool to help customers at a critical juncture in their healthcare experience.
